ELKHORN PADDLER’S ANNUAL MEETING
NOVEMBER 1, 2009
SHAKERTOWN, KENTUCKY

The meeting was called to order at 10:45 a.m. after a scrumptious breakfast.

Members and potential members present: Mary Carol Cooper, Larry Crouch, Virgil Johnson, Claudia “Chick” Hicks, Dave Stawicki, Amy Stawicki, Donna DePenning, Nancy Moore, Pat Brennan, Karen Crouch, Stephanie Crouch (VIP), Marian Baker, Eric Furr, Linda Ison, Julia Karnes, Larry Grannis, Wayne Eddins

Introductions:
Four new faces!

Minutes:
Copies distributed for review.
* Dave made motion to accept minutes from the February 2009 business and cruise meetings. Chick seconded. Passed.

Treasurer’s Report:
Donna gave Treasurer’s report.

* Donna noted we were charged a bank service fee, she will see if that can be reversed.
* Virgil sent a donation to the American Heart Association in honor of Mike Thoerner.
* MCC made motion to accept the Treasurer’s report, Chick seconded. passed.

Membership:
55 current members (family & individual)
Fundraising:
no report

Newsletter:
* Karen reported an issue was mailed out in the spring and extra copies were given to Donna who sent them to new members as they joined.

Old Business:
* Dave discussed our continued membership with the American Whitewater Association due to our interests in the Elkhorn Acres. Their conservation philosophy seems to be in line with our own.
o Dave made motion to accept, Karen seconded. Passed.
* Virgil discussed donating again to Ky Waterways
o Chick had questions about their policies, so Virgil will bring additional information to the spring meeting.
* Virgil discussed donating to American Canoe Association, not to becoming a true member since the cost was prohibitive for our sized organization.
o Dave made motion to accept, Karen seconded. Passed.

New Business
Newsletter- do we need to go completely electronic? We are down to just one issue in the spring now. Determined it was best to leave as is for now.
Communications-do we need to put email/telephone information back into the newsletter (only names in last issue)? how do folks contact one another other than the list serve?
* Amy offered to mail a post card in January to all members as a reminder dues should be paid prior to the spring cruise meeting.
Cruises-Nancy asked to be thinking of new cruises and new leaders for the 2010 trips

* business 3:00;
* general 4:00;
* cruise planning 5:00, followed by dinner, socializing, and telling of tall tales.

Meeting adjourned at 11:45 so the Paddlers could head to the water.
