Middle Fork of Red River

May 4, 2019

Approx. 7 miles; Moving water, no rapids; tough take-out See the red River Gorge from water level, floating along this lazy, meandering section of the river past swimming holes, hiking trails, picnikers and scenery.  We put in at the concrete bridge and will float down stream to the steel bridge (or an alternate takeout nearby). NOTE: This is a Sierra Club trip subject to Sierra Club guidelines, but all are welcome. A waiver will be required. Contact: Dave Stawicki email: davestawicki@yahoo.com 

Elkhorn Creek “Introduction” Paddle

Approx. 11 miles; Moving water, no rapids Guided trip of Elkhorn Creek - specifically for those new to paddling. Join experienced Elkhorn Paddlers as we navigate one of central Kentucky's treasures at the peak of late spring paddling. Canoes and Kayaks both and did I mention  NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. ‘Gourmet’ Canoe Paddle

        June 15-16, 2019

Two Days, day one 8 mi., day two 5 mi; Moving water, no rapids; car camping Two days on the Licking River near Falmouth, KY on slow moving water through beautiful scenery with occassional glimpses of wildlife (an eagle was sighted last year). On first day we paddle from put-in to the campsite where our cars will be parked with our camping gear and food. On second day we move our gears and cars to take-out and finish the trip. Opportunity to join us for all - or only part - of the trip. Facilities and shuttle provided by Thaxton Canoe Livery, who can also rent boats. Small fee for camp/ shuttle; boat rental extra. Green River - 300 Springs

June 29, 2019

Hiwassee River Whitewater

July 12-14, 2019

2 days, Approx. 4.5 miles; each day;  Class I-II Dam Releasy river nearly half a mile wide providing options to pick your route. Outfitter available for rentals. Camp sites to share will be reserved nearby for Friday and Saturday nights; we paddle on Saturday and Sunday. Options to come and paddle and camp either or both days. Two day trip, approx. 21 miles; canoe-camping 23rd Annual Kentucky "River Rat Cruise".  Fall colors through the spectacular Palisades, honoring Elkhorn Paddlers founder, Harold Jeffers.  To day paddle on the Kentucky River from Camp Nelson to High Bridge. Approx. 0 miles; Still water; full stomachs Join us for breakfast at General Butler State Park in Carrolton, KY when we will hold our annual fall membership meeting. Then shake off the meeting minutes by paddling for a few hours on the park’s lake, or hike the trails located there. Contact leader for details and to RSVP. Green River Springs

Lynn Camp Creek to Rio 12 mile easy paddle on calm water. There are 3waterfalls cascading from springs down an 80 foot bluff and endangered maidenhair fern at the falls.
